A Doodle Time Fun Business Concept

There are a variety of sales concept models for selling Doodle Time Fun products.  The small retail outlet in a high volume venue is probably the best if you want to maximize sales. 

Small Retail Outlet:  Renting a cart or kiosk in a shopping center, mall, flea market, airport, or tourist area is ideal for selling Doodle Time Fun products.  Rental costs and terms associated with these arrangements vary greatly.  The ideal arrangement is one where you pay the least in rent, with flexible terms (lease length, hours of operation, etc.), at a location with a high customer traffic volume. 

Displays and business rules & requirement will also vary from venue to venue.   Consider your display plan and start up costs for such things as a cash register/box, sales packaging supplies (rubber bands and long bags (like those use for wine bottle sales) work good;  just roll up the prints, put a rubber band around them and slide them in a long bag.  Cardboard tubes or boxes are also good but they will cost you more (3x12 inch tubes, purchased in bulk, will run about 50 cents each).  However, in some markets, where you can add the tube price to the product cost, this may be a good way to go.  Selling products in tubes or boxes suitable for mailing may increase sales.  Many customers will want to send them to their friends or relatives and the tubes are ideal for mailing.

You will not need much space to store your Doodle Time Fun prints.  A stack of 1200 prints takes only about 12"x18"x12" of space. This should give you plenty of room to display full or partially colored sheets of all the prints you sell. A good way to do this is to partially color the prints, have them laminated at a local office supply retailer, and neatly mount them to a display board.   

 Also, and this is very important, DEMONSTRATE coloring prints while you wait. It WILL draw in customers.  Having them notice your product, show interest in it, then realize the reasonable price, is the sure combination to make sales.  You can either set up a small drafting table where you work or purchase a drawing board from a craft or art store to hold the print on your lap while you color it.  Make sure customers can watch while you color.  You may even want to set up areas where customers can color prints themselves.  Nothing will hook them more than doing some coloring themselves.
